Good idea!
I had to pass this along and if it's already well known then just ignore me. I haven't danced in about 6 or more years.

I came across a dancer the other night at the new club I'm *trying* to waitress at.

She was talking about these new shoes she had bought. They were the platform close-to-9-inch heels open toed white shoes. Very nice. I asked her that since they were new, didn't her feet hurt?

Nope.

Apparently where the shoe covered her feet she put duct tape around her foot extending maybe 1/8 of an inch past where the top of the shoe covered her foot (if that made any sense). She also taped her big toe with a small strip and then her last two toes. You could not see the tape at all even when standing there in front of her feet on stage. Apparently this keeps your shoes from rubbing against your feet and causing blisters.

I imagine if you have clear shoes you can't use the silver tape, buy packing clear tape...but anyways, it was a pretty nifty idea. She said she never gets blisters this way because the shoes never rub against her skin.

Just an idea to pass along.

I use dancer tape actually. They make some that is flesh colored and not white. I would think that duct tape might cause some reactions? I'm not allergic to most tapes, but I had to tape my feet up really fast at work one time and the manager only had duct tape. I had hives and blisters from the tape.

I'll have to search for that. I know of another girl that buys the clear shoes and cannot do the tape thing for fear that it might show through her shoes so she deals with it.

I didn't realizer they made tape like that..shows how long I've been out!

It took me forever to find it actually. I was using gauze for a while under dancer tape. If you can't find it you might try costume tape which you can pick up at a local theatre store.

Great thanks! I'll have to do that. Especially if I have to wear the shoes...it sounds like if you use the tape, your feet won't kill you as much (that and getting 1/2 size bigger in shoes I imagine).

I have done Ballet since I was 4 and Danced on pointe(on my toes) since I was 10, Ballerinas have ALWAYS taped our toes, tho I never considered doing it for my heels when I was doing exotic dance.

She didn't so her heels since her shoes were backless but she did it to the tops of her feet around the balls of your foot and a couple of individual toes.

lol, I meant for wearing heeled shoes, as opposed to my ballet shoes.
